Position: Tutor Program Manager, partnering with the Mountain View Whisman School District 20-25 hours/week; follows the school calendar (approximately 40 weeks/year)

Organization Description
Mentor Tutor Connection (MTC) is a local Mountain View/Los Altos, CA non-profit organization providing volunteer tutors and mentors to support K-12 students academically and social-emotionally. MTC is made up of 8 part-time staff members and approximately 200 volunteers.
Position Description
The Tutor Program Manager makes and maintains matches between students identified by school staff as needing academic support with volunteers who have been approved through MTC’S tutor screening processes.
The position is primarily home-based.
Responsibilities
Representing MTC and advancing the mission
- Positively interact with all constituents – students, volunteers, school staff, donors
- Promote awareness of MTC and its mission in the schools and the community
- Efficiently conduct MTC operations to maximize resources
- Embrace continuous improvement goals with an eye on quality and increasing MTC’s impact
Working with and supporting tutors
- Interview, match, and support MTC-approved volunteer tutors
- Interview prospective tutors to confirm suitability for the program, and to understand grade, subject/program interests as well as availability, to enable a good match
- Match tutors and students while working with district/school personnel
- Communicate with returning tutors each fall regarding their availability and next matches
- Provide follow up communications, training, support, and problem resolution
- Create and provide periodic trainings and volunteer gatherings to share ideas and create a sense of community with our volunteers
Partnering with school administrators
- At the beginning of each school year, meet with School Administrators (with Director of Programs) and school volunteer coordinators to understand their requirements for the academic year and how tutors can best help their students
- Develop new tutoring programs, as needed
- Confirm that schools will provide support for our tutors
- Communicate with teachers who have previously participated in the program to determine needs for the new year and desire for volunteer support
- Arrange for new tutors to meet the classroom teacher prior to tutoring
Other Program Responsibilities
- Maintain the volunteer database to record volunteer information on a timely basis; provide status summaries as requested
- Throughout the year, collect and track tutors’ hours and number of students they assist
- Implement and administer surveys and other instruments to document and measure MTC’s tutor program results
- Attend MTC Tutor Program Manager and Programs Committee meetings
- Participate in recruiting and training events, as well as other program-related activities, as needed (e.g. Volunteer Appreciation, New Tutor Training)
- Provide information about tutors and students for reports and marketing purposes, as requested
- Participate in professional development as agreed-upon with Director of Programs
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Effective oral, written and Zoom communication
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with MTC team
- Proficient computer skills or willingness to learn (for example: Google Docs, Google Forms, Zoom, Google Meet, database)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience in education or volunteering in the school environment is preferred
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus
