“I have never done anything like this before. It was a great experience, very relaxing”. — High school mentee whose interests usually lie in areas like computer science and math.
This was a common sentiment after sharing a fun, artistic experience at Color Me Mine in Menlo Park on April 6. The group of fifty mentors and mentees chose a piece of pottery and got creative in painting and making it their own. For many, this was an opportunity to try something different outside of their expertise and regular schedule of school activities.
A student, who likes to draw but is apprehensive about trying new things, felt more confident after this field trip.
This is one of several social events MTC sponsors for mentors and their mentees to give them a chance to get to know one another in a relaxed environment. In this case, both were trying their hand at something new. Everyone got to take their unique piece of pottery home to enjoy.
